“They haven’t texted to say they’ve made it home,” Felix said, sitting on the edge of the mattress.

“So? They probably passed out.”

“I know Bethany didn’t. She texted, and when I asked who was dropped off first, she said Harold.”

“So it’s Harold you’re waiting to hear from, not both of them.”

“Huh?” Felix glanced over his shoulder to see that Noah had unbuttoned his shirt and was stripping it off. “Yeah. Sorry.”

“Come to bed. I’m sure he’s fine.”

“Okay.” Felix stood and turned around. “Hey, does he share his location with you? Didn’t you say all the escorts have to when they’re working?”

“He’s not with a client.”

“But I thought he might always share it with you anyway.”

Noah glowered at him. “Can we just drop it and get some sleep?”

“Please? I’ll worry.”

“Fine!” Noah grabbed his phone from the nightstand and turned his back to him.

When he spun around again, he was brandishing the screen. Felix saw a map and a blue dot that was on the correct street. Harold was home. Now all Felix had to worry about was his boyfriend’s grumpy demeanor.

“I’m sorry,” Felix said.

Noah scowled. “Are you admitting it?”

“Admitting what?”

“Never mind.” Noah pulled down his jeans and kicked them off. He left his underwear on, which was unusual. He always slept nude, ever since the first time Felix had asked him to. “I’m not going to ruin another birthday. We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

“I know what you’re thinking,” Felix said, his voice beginning to tremble, “and there’s nothing to discuss.”

“Really?” Noah stormed from the room. When he returned, he was holding a little red book. “If there’s nothing to talk about, then what’s this?”

“My diary,” Felix said, rushing over and trying to snatch it away. Noah held the book above his head and out of reach. “You’re not supposed to read that!”

“Then you shouldn’t leave it lying around!” Noah shouted.

“I trusted you not to read it!” Felix yelled back.

“I needed a gift idea for your birthday!”

Oh. The fight went out of Felix. He was never much for arguing. Besides, he could be as offended as he wanted, but it didn’t change the fact that he was the guilty one. He moved close to Noah, not liking when they fought, and grabbed on. Comforting arms wrapped around him as Noah’s voice rumbled against his ear.

“I thought you were leaving your diary out because there was a hint in there for me.”

“That sounds like something I would do,” he admitted. “I’m really sorry. I never meant to hurt you.”

Noah was quiet. He didn’t respond immediately. Then he gently moved Felix away and sat on the edge of the bed. “I need you to be honest. Even if it hurts me.”

“Of course,” Felix said, sitting next to him.

“How far has this gone? Are you two…”

“No! We haven’t done anything, I swear!”

Noah looked over at him. “You aren’t just saying that because he called it off.”

Felix stared. “I’m confused. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Tonight. Right before we left. Harold was acting weird. It was like he was giving you back to me.
