âThey havenât texted to say theyâve made it home,â Felix said, sitting on the edge of the mattress.
âSo? They probably passed out.â
âI know Bethany didnât. She texted, and when I asked who was dropped off first, she said Harold.â
âSo itâs Harold youâre waiting to hear from, not both of them.â
âHuh?â Felix glanced over his shoulder to see that Noah had unbuttoned his shirt and was stripping it off. âYeah. Sorry.â
âCome to bed. Iâm sure heâs fine.â
âOkay.â Felix stood and turned around. âHey, does he share his location with you? Didnât you say all the escorts have to when theyâre working?â
âHeâs not with a client.â
âBut I thought he might always share it with you anyway.â
Noah glowered at him. âCan we just drop it and get some sleep?â
âPlease? Iâll worry.â
âFine!â Noah grabbed his phone from the nightstand and turned his back to him.
When he spun around again, he was brandishing the screen. Felix saw a map and a blue dot that was on the correct street. Harold was home. Now all Felix had to worry about was his boyfriendâs grumpy demeanor.
âIâm sorry,â Felix said.
Noah scowled. âAre you admitting it?â
âAdmitting what?â
âNever mind.â Noah pulled down his jeans and kicked them off. He left his underwear on, which was unusual. He always slept nude, ever since the first time Felix had asked him to. âIâm not going to ruin another birthday. Weâll talk about it tomorrow.â
âI know what youâre thinking,â Felix said, his voice beginning to tremble, âand thereâs nothing to discuss.â
âReally?â Noah stormed from the room. When he returned, he was holding a little red book. âIf thereâs nothing to talk about, then whatâs this?â
âMy diary,â Felix said, rushing over and trying to snatch it away. Noah held the book above his head and out of reach. âYouâre not supposed to read that!â
âThen you shouldnât leave it lying around!â Noah shouted.
âI trusted you not to read it!â Felix yelled back.
âI needed a gift idea for your birthday!â
Oh. The fight went out of Felix. He was never much for arguing. Besides, he could be as offended as he wanted, but it didnât change the fact that he was the guilty one. He moved close to Noah, not liking when they fought, and grabbed on. Comforting arms wrapped around him as Noahâs voice rumbled against his ear.
âI thought you were leaving your diary out because there was a hint in there for me.â
âThat sounds like something I would do,â he admitted. âIâm really sorry. I never meant to hurt you.â
Noah was quiet. He didnât respond immediately. Then he gently moved Felix away and sat on the edge of the bed. âI need you to be honest. Even if it hurts me.â
âOf course,â Felix said, sitting next to him.
âHow far has this gone? Are you twoâ¦â
âNo! We havenât done anything, I swear!â
Noah looked over at him. âYou arenât just saying that because he called it off.â
Felix stared. âIâm confused. I donât know what youâre talking about.â
âTonight. Right before we left. Harold was acting weird. It was like he was giving you back to me.
